Nonprofit organizations serving Leander residents can apply for a share of $100,000 through the city's Fiscal Year 2027 Community Resource Grant Program.

Applications close at 11.59pm Central Time on October 30. The city expects to make multiple awards for one-year projects, but it has not set a fixed grant amount and says funding is competitive rather than guaranteed.

No matching contribution is required. Applicants must show that their proposal addresses an identified community need, primarily benefits people living in the City of Leander and can produce measurable outcomes.

Who is eligible?

Applicants must be tax-exempt nonprofits recognized by the Internal Revenue Service, including qualifying 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4) or other organizations accepted after city review. They must have operated continuously for at least one year before the deadline, remain in legal good standing and maintain an active governing board and adequate financial controls.

Eligible work includes food, utility, rent and housing assistance; homelessness and home-safety services; mental-health and medical access; help addressing social isolation; workforce development, job training and financial literacy. Other activities may qualify if they show a direct public benefit for Leander residents.

Documents and process

The application asks for organizational and program information, outcomes, a budget, sustainability plans, collaboration details and certifications. Required supporting records include an IRS determination letter, recent Form 990, operating budget, financial statements, board list, W-9, insurance certificate, city budget template and conflict-of-interest documents.

Applicants must complete the city form, save a PDF copy and upload that application and the supporting documents through the Euna Solutions system. Incomplete applications may be rejected.

A virtual information meeting is scheduled for September 17 from 2pm to 3.30pm. Registration through Euna provides the meeting link, questions and answers, and later notice updates.

Scoring gives half of the available points to community impact. Program effectiveness, organizational capacity, fiscal responsibility, sustainability and collaboration make up the remainder. Recommendations still require City of Leander approval.

The city may revise the schedule or funding, so applicants should use the live notice rather than a saved summary when submitting.

Building a stronger application

The scoring structure makes it important to connect a proposed service to a documented Leander need. Applicants should explain who will be served, how they know the need exists, what the program will do and how success will be measured. A broad mission statement is unlikely to answer all four questions on its own.

Budgets should match the activities described in the narrative. Staffing, supplies, equipment, rent, utilities, client assistance and other costs need enough explanation for reviewers to understand why they are reasonable. Organizations should also identify other funding, partnerships or volunteer support that will help sustain the work after a one-year award.

Because community impact carries 50% of the score, applicants should be specific about Leander residency and expected reach. The city asks for estimated residents served and ZIP codes, along with outcomes and performance measures. Counting activities is useful, but an application is stronger when it also explains the change those activities are intended to produce.

Checklist before submission

Organizations should allow time to obtain insurance documentation, board information, financial records and signatures rather than waiting until the deadline. The city requires the completed application and supporting files to be uploaded separately, so applicants should confirm that both uploads appear successfully in the system.

The September 17 information session offers a chance to clarify eligibility or technical questions before final submission. Questions specific to the funding notice can also be directed to the city's grants administrator through the contact route on the official page.

Applicants should retain the saved PDF, submission confirmation and final supporting-file bundle. The city may request clarification, an interview, a site visit or additional documentation during review. Award notifications are scheduled for November 20, but the published timetable states that dates may change.
